Celebrate the artistic heritage of the Indian Subcontinent at a special cultural program at the Ernest A. DiMattia, Jr. Building of The Ferguson Library on Sunday, August 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.Music, poetry & classical dance invoke a myriad of landscapes and rich artistic heritage of the Indian subcontinent.

The experience will summon images from the mythical kingdom of Manipur in the east, the golden terracotta temples of Bengal, the waves of the Indian Ocean caressing the sands of Orissa, the ancient enchantments of Tamil Nadu and the royalty of North and Western India.

Following the opening remarks by Professor Nitis Mukhopadhyay, enjoy the vocal music of singers Mahua Mukhopadhyay, Dela Banerjee, and Mahua Banerjee, Dr. Saumitra Banerjee on the Tabla, and a poetry recitation by Dr. Gulshan Ara Kazi.

Indian classical dance performances include Setu Patel –Odissi, Koyel Khan – Manipuri Nritya, Neeraja Balachander –Bharatanatyam, Baishali Kanjilal – Kathak.
