Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen was formed in 1967 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but arrived in San Francisco in 1969 just in time to catch the tail end of the Summer of Love! They represented the essence of American Roots Music mixing Country, Rock 'n' Roll, Western Swing, Rockabilly & Jump Blues together on a foundation of Boogie Woogie piano with the Commander: George Frayne at the helm. Their best known hit "Hot Rod Lincoln" reached the top ten on the Billboard singles chart in early '72. "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke That Cigarette", "Too Much Fun", "I'm Down To Stems And Seeds", and "Lost In The Ozone" are just a few of his hits that helped invent a whole new style of music in the 1970's, a period regarded as the height of rock innovation!
