Richard McKenzie founded Seven Bridges Foundation in 1993. An artist in his own right, as can be seen through the many sculptures on display both inside the galleries and on the grounds, has been collecting art for over 25 years.
He created the Foundation to help artists who have the potential but not the means to create art. With that in mind, his areas of interest are focused on paintings, glass, and indoor and outdoor sculpture.
The two art galleries on the property along with the outdoor sculpture garden blend beautifully with the natural surroundings. Set on over 80 acres, the specimen trees are as much of an art form as the buildings themselves. The landscaped grounds, woodlands and waterways are manicured just enough to enhance the sculpture but still evoke the beauty of nature. The two galleries are very different in style, one traditional, one contemporary, yet they both fit perfectly into the landscape.
