The Greenwich Art Society Presents an exhibition by artist-member, Jean-Pierre Jacquet entitled: “Here and There”, a promenade en plein air.
Plein air painting is representational, but it is above all about capturing the light. Light is what gives you the sense of a place. In the field, light is fleeting and elusive; it will transform a landscape in a matter of seconds, and the challenge and pleasure for the painter is to seize it and ultimately share it with viewers. I invite you to eavesdrop on my conversations with places I have visited and discovered, from the majestic to the mundane.
Jacquet's en plein air paintings will be on display in the Society's 2nd floor gallery from 1/11 - 2/8. An artist reception will be held on Thursday, January 12, from 6-8pm.
