Celebration of Trees'
Our 4th Annual Photography Contest Fundraiser
Friday, March 4, from 6-8pm
at the Darien Nature Center
Come view all of the entries to our photo contest, beautifully hung at the Darien Nature Center at 120 Brookside Road. Palmers Market has generously sponsored our reception, which is open to all. Wineport of Darien has donated wines and Two Roads Brewery has contributed beer for the evening. All proceeds from the photo contest will go directly toward the care and planting of trees in Darien.
Darien artist Elizabeth Higgins, known locally as Betsy Jones, has donated her 48” wide by 24” high oil painting on canvas, “Spring Landscape” (pictured below) for bidding in the silent auction.
"Nature has always inspired my work. The strong shapes and color of trees, in particular, have played an integral part in many of my compositions. 'Spring Landscape', depicts the beauty and variety of trees in my neighborhood that have since been cut down in order to make room for new houses. Their presence lives on in this painting." - Elizabeth Higgins
”… I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues”
- Dr. Suess
