Wally Lamb @ New Canaan Library

  • New Canaan Library 151 Main Street New Canaan, CT (map)

Join us as Wally Lamb, renowned author of The New York Times bestselling novelsShe's Come Undone and I Know This Much is True, speaks about his new novel, I'll Take You There

The world of filmmaking, ghostly connections, and the trials and complexities of being a woman are gracefully and compellingly woven into the story of one young man's life and the three very important women who helped shape it. I'll Take You There centers on Felix, a film scholar running a film club in an old theater who is visited by the ghost of Lois Weber, a film director from Hollywood's silent film era. When Lois invites Felix to review, and sometimes relive, his past on the big screen, he finds that he has a rare opportunity to reexamine some precious relationships: with his daughter Aliza, a budding author, with his sister Frances, whom he had a deep relationship, and with Verna, a fiery beauty contest contender. The irresistible chance to look back leads to enlightenment for Felix. Through a backdrop of politics, pop culture, Hollywood icons, and family secrets, he begins to understand the feminine ideals, pressures, and trials that all women of every age and generation must face.

Wally Lamb is the author of four previous novels, including the New York Times and national bestseller The Hour I First Believed and Wishin' and Hopin', a bestselling novella. His first two works of fiction, She's Come Undone and I Know This Much is True, were both number one New York Times bestsellers and Oprah's Book Club selections. He lives in Connecticut with his wife, Christine. The Lambs are the parents of three sons.
